Marvin Matthew Potter, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2024, at the age of 92. He was born on May 31, 1932, in Martinsburg, Illinois, to the late Harlan and Dorothea Potter.
Marvin served in the Navy during the Korean War, and was a proud employee of Automatic Systems, Inc, for over 25 years. He enjoyed collecting and working on antique clocks, and in his retirement, he took great pride in taking care of the many acres surrounding his home.
Marvin is survived by his wife of 71 years, Janice Potter, as well as his son Paul Potter, daughter-in-law Karen Potter, brother Robert Potter and sister Amy Tittle. He was grandfather to Elizabeth, Emily, Joshua, Aaron, and David, and great-grandfather to Rowan, Daniel, and Hazel. He was preceded in death by his sister Marilyn Featherston, and his son Russell Potter.
A memorial service for family will be held to celebrate Marvin's life and honor his memory. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to a charity of your choice in Marvin's name.
A visitation for Marvin will be held Friday, July 5, 2024 from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM at Chapel Hill - Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas 66112. Following the visitation will be a graveside service at 11:00 AM at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas 66112.
