Reed, Kent, and family - Nachus, Tess, Maria and I want to express our sympathy.  Mary was our wonderful neighbor for years. She always took an interest in our girls as they were growing up.  I'll never forget seeing her walk around the block for her exercise when she was getting up there in years. She was a great role model.  We will never forget the fond memories. What a nice service and lunch today!  Mary started her work as secretary at ETUMC with Gene Connely who lives in Arizona. I had e-mailed the word about her and got this response "Mary was a really good person and one of the best for a church secretary.  She lived her Christian life."  This is not telling you anything you don't already know but wanted to send his message on to you. Ruth Lichtenstern

Kent -  So very sorry for your loss.  I didn't know your Mom personally, but just reading all these kind words about her and the stories you have shared with me, I know that she was a wonderful, strong and admired woman.  I know that she will be missed by all of you, but I hope you find comfort in knowing that she led a long and happy life.

McGregor Family,

I first met your mom when I worked with her at the Division of Institutional Management at the State Office Building in 1967.  

Almost thirty years later I became the secretary for Highland Park United Methodist Church in Topeka.  Mary was secretary at East Topeka UMC and called me one day to ask me to attend a Methodist secretaries meeting with her.  We attended many meetings together before she retired.

She was a wonderful lady and she truly enjoyed her time with all of the other secretaries.  We have missed her at our meetings.

May God bless all of you and may you cherish all the wonderful memories of your mom.

What a life Aunt Mary had! A career with the State of Kansas, her job at the church, and her genealogy pursuits!  Plenty of things to fill her time, and then add FAMILY!! She had it all when you say family-- a collection of not only her family, but brothers and sisters, their spouses, nieces and nephews and their spouses and children-- she had time and a kind word and smile for all of them. 
When Grandma Fiske died, she carried on the tradition of the birthday card and Dollar bill for all the nieces and nephews, and was a fixture at all the family gatherings.. You know she would be there!!  I had the privilege of living at her house for almost two years, while I worked at Forbes Field, and some of the times I remembered best were the trips for dinner to Tevis' restaurant. And also her stories of the lineage of the Fiske family, pictures of her trip to Israel and the Holy land, and to the Fiske house in England.  I will truly miss her!   Fred Longberg, Omaha (Nephew)

Mary was a very special person.  My association with Mary began many years ago when she called me, a new church secretary, and invited me to go with her to a PAUMCS meeting.  That was a beginning of a great friendship.  I have great memories of all the PAUMCS meetings we attended together, the fun and laughter on the way to and from meetings, hotel stays together as well as sharing ideas about out work as church secretaries.  My thoughts and prayers to her family as I know this dynamic lady has left a void in your family.

I remember Mary from when she worked in the Coffee Shop at the Hotel Jayhawk.  She was a wonderful person.  I always enjoyed talking to her and being waited on by her. Fond memories.
