Mary J. Simmons, 78, Shawnee, Kansas passed away June 25, 2017. A funeral service will be held at 2PM, Thursday, June 29, 2017 with a visitation beginning at 1PM at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, Kansas 66112. Interment will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to American Red Cross, 211 W. Armour Blvd., Kansas City, Missouri 64111

Mary was born on December 11, 1938 in South Dakota to John and Euleila Dobson. She then moved to the Kansas City area and graduated from Rosedale High School. She was a mother of four children and worked various jobs while they were growing up. She later worked for the USPS, where she met her husband of 27 years, Gerald Simmons.

She was preceded in passing by her parents; and grandson, Brady Lowery.

Survivors include her husband, Gerald Simmons of Shawnee, Kansas; sons, Dewayne Reynolds of Kansas City, Kansas and Neal Lowery of Greenwood, Missouri; daughters, Karen Wagner of New Brighton, Minnesota and Brenda Winters of Oak Grove, Missouri; brother, Dean Dobson of San Antonio, Texas; six grandchildren, Jacob, Alexandra, Cody, Marianne, Terese and Kelsey; step-grandchildren, Marisa, Jeff; and great grandchildren, Vyktor, Jayden and Jordan.
