

Jean was born August 5, 1931 in Kansas City, Kansas to Eldon Roy and Avis (Freeman) Roy. She passed away at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Durango on Sunday, September 20, 2015. Jean was 84 years old.
Memorial services for Maudie "Jean" Stolz a resident of Dolores, Colorado will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at Saint Pius X Catholic Church in Kansas City, Kansas. Father Ken Kelly will officiate. An inurnment will take place afterward at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens at 701 N. 94th Street in Kansas City, Kansas.
Jean married twice, first to James Marion Bandy and later to Magnus Arthur "Skip" Stolz. In 1976 she legally adopted Skip's daughter, Olivia, whom she loved as her own.
On October 7, 1961 Jean was baptized at the St. Pius X Catholic Church in Mission, Kansas and has remained a devout worshipper for the remainder of her years.
Jean was a true "character.” She was loving, kind, generous, and had a contagious laugh. She filled the hearts of all who knew her. Her hobbies included visiting with friends, reading, story-telling, family history and antique shopping.
Late in life, Jean joined the Sleeping Ute Mountain Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, a source of tremendous pride for her.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents; her half-brothers Linn "Jimmy" Graves, Henry Graves and Harold Graves. She is survived by her daughter, Olivia; her sisters-in-law, Virginia Gibson and Miyoko Graves; nieces, Marilyn Brady and Jane Ellen Graves; and nephews Harold, Charles and Patrick Graves as well as numerous great nieces, great nephews and devoted friends.
The family wishes to thank all of her dear friends, neighbors and caregivers who have been an extended family to Jean since her move to the Dolores area in 2002.
We are comforted to know that she is in Peace and that we'll be seeing her again one day.
In lieu of flowers, Jean requested that we consider a love offering be made to For Pet’s Sake of Cortez, Colorado.
