Melvard Benjamin Stewart, 92, of Kansas City, MO passed away Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at North Kansas City Hospital. Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Monday, May 10, 2010 at the Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home. Burial in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Garden Of Meditation. Visitation will be 1:30-2:30 p.m. Monday, prior to the service. In Lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Habitat for Humanity.” Red” was born on November 15, 1917 to Wofford Levi and Myrtle (Prater) Stewart. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He worked as a factory technician for Colgate Palmolive Co. before retiring. He enjoyed spending his pass time in woodworking and carpentry. Melvard is preceded in death by: his parents, his wife of 69 years: Alvena (Deckman) Stewart, and one brother Willard Stewart. Survivors include his daughter: Diana Bailey of Kansas City, MO. along with several nieces and nephews.
