

Born on June 20, 1953 in Matanzas, Cuba, Mike was the son of Ramon and Emilia Castro.He is survived by his loving wife, Debbie and his children, John Michael and Jane Michelle.
Mike had a deep love for his family.A devoted son to his parents, a friend and proud father of his children, a passionate, spouse through 42 years of marriage.
His home was a place of comfort, warmth, laughter, wisdom, beauty and a big tv! He enjoyed family vacations traveling from coast to coast on planes, trains and automobiles over the years. From snow covered mountain tops to warm, sandy beaches, life long memories of time spent together will be cherished.
Mike was an avid reader. History, mystery, comic books, science fiction, always a book at hand. A few of his favorite authors were Laurence Sanders, Donald Westlake, Roger Zelazny, Tom Clancy, Elmore Leonard and Clive Cussler. Masterpiece Theater was a favorite broadcast on PBS. Notably Poirot and any Agatha Christie series. Expedition X, River monsters, Shark week and any documentary ranging from subjects on ancient Egypt, European monarchies, military history to aliens were his favorites. Knives, guns, watches, matchbooks and happy meal toys were unofficial collections he amassed. He enjoyed martinis and Makers Mark whiskey, fine restaurants, Cafe Allegro being “our place” for years.
He enjoyed photography, computer games, watching football and driving fast cars. Mike lived a life well spent. His friendship touched many lives and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him and loved him.
A visitation will held at Chapel Hill Funeral and Memorial Gardens, 701 N 94th street in Kansas City, KS 66112 at 11:00 on Monday, July 20th followed by a celebration of life from 12:00-1:00.
