I am one of the neighbors from the building Michelle lived in. She met me over 20years ago when I was merely 15yrs old. Michelle wasn't just our neighbor in the building, we were parking neighbors for the entire time we lived here together, but she was more than that, she was definitely family. She saw me grow up, become a mother, watched my son grow, and he was one of the people that would help her with whatever she needed. She truly did love us and us her. She would put together holiday events for us, give our kids treats during holidays and such and they all loved her and cared for her. Her kindness will be remembered and so fondly missed. Eric and Jack, I hope you know how loved you were by her and how profoundly proud she was of you both. If you guys ever need anything, we are still your village. RIP Michelle!

With heartfelt sympathy to the family of Soror Michelle,

Michelle was a beautiful soul and a brilliant mind. She loved God, cherished her family, and lived a life of service in every community she touched.

I was honored to pledge Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. at the University of Kansas under Michelle’s leadership. But my love and admiration for her began long before that — back in our Sumner High School days. We were blessed with a high school experience that felt almost like an HBCU, surrounded by a neighborhood so close‑knit it could have been lifted from the pages of a storybook. Michelle was a shining part of that world.

God gives each of us gifts and talents, and Michelle unmistakably had many. She was a true leader — steady, wise, and full of grace. Her smile alone could light up a room.

At our Delta Sigma Theta Psi Chapter 100‑year reunion, Michelle traveled from afar to Lawrence, Kansas, to reconnect. As we sat together, she spoke openly about her battles with cancer and the surgeries she endured. Yet in the same breath, she spoke with joy about her family and friends. Even in the face of life’s hardest challenges, she carried herself with dignity, courage, and an unshakeable spirit.

When I read her bio, my heart whispered, Rest on, Sister Michelle. Your work here is complete. God has prepared a place where suffering ends, where peace is everlasting, and where her radiant smile will shine without pain.

To Michelle’s beloved family, may you feel the comforting peace of God during this difficult time. Michelle loved you deeply.

My deepest condolences to the family. Soror Michelle, my sorority sister in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., was my Big Sister at the time I pledged 52 years ago. We were also roommates.

 I am so thankful I saw Michelle at the Psi Chapter Centennial celebration last June 2025. I have many fond memories of Michelle. She asked me a few years ago for my pot roast recipe from our college days that I cooked for us using French Dressing. I said “Michelle, that was so long ago I can’t remember it! She said “when you remember it let me know”. I laughed and said “yes Big Sister” we both cracked up laughing. 

Praying for the family. May God be with you during this difficult time and always. Michelle was loved and we had a great time last year in Lawrence KS, as I hadn’t seen her in person in many years. 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿♥️
