

Murrie Jackson of Kansas City, Kansas passed away on May 29, 2021. He was 80 years old. Due to restrictions, the virtual Homegoing Celebration service will be on Friday, June 4, 2021 starting at 11:00 am on Chapel Hill-Butler’s Facebook Page. Murrie was born on May 28, 1941 in Chatham Louisiana to Charlie and Rosie (Wooten) Jackson. After his education, Murrie entered a career in to construction where he continued to work for over 40 years before his retirement. On April 7, 1968, he married his love, Marvelline Dixon. The two continued to grow their family with children and grandchildren. Murrie was a family man and there was always a special place in his heart for his grandchildren and his nieces and nephews.
Murrie was a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church in Kansas City, Kansas. He loved being able to go to church and was a strong follower of Christ. In his free time, Murrie enjoyed listening to some good Blues Music and playing dominos. He was also loved watching the KC Chiefs and KC Royals with his wife. Murrie was always fixing something and he loved to stay busy. He enjoyed getting family and friends together for BBQ cookouts. Murrie always knew how to have a good time and he was such an outgoing person that never knew a stranger. He was loved by many and will be dearly missed.
Murrie was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Jean Richardson and Luiza Perry; and brothers, Charlie Jackson, Jorden Jackson, and Stacy Jackson.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 53 years, Marvelline Jackson; sons, Maurice Jackson (Roslyn) and Murrie David Jackson Jr. (Cher); daughter, Belinda Phillips; a host of grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; along with many dear friends.
The family would also like to express a special thanks to Oakridge Missionary Baptist Church, Providence Medical Center, Vitas Healthcare Hospice Care, and Brookdale Senior Living Solutions.
