Naomi E. Briggs, 82, of Kansas City, Kansas passed away May 28, 2018 at home surrounded by family. Funeral services will be 2:00pm, Friday, June 1st, with visitation from 1:00-2:00pm at Chapel Hill – Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas 66112. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Phoenix Hospice.
Naomi was born October 31, 1935 in Bentonville, Missouri to Loyd and Fairy Breshears. She graduated from high school and worked for many years as a clerk. Naomi was a member of the Eastern Star for over 25 years. She married Jerroll E. Briggs, D.O. in 1975. Naomi enjoyed traveling, and made trips to Rome, Holland, Australia, Hawaii, and throughout the US. She wintered in Arizona and enjoyed playing shuffleboard. Naomi also enjoyed playing Bingo and going to the casino.
Naomi was a very positive and upbeat person, and was very strong, never complaining. Her son was her whole life and she was always there for him, supporting him in whatever he enjoyed. She said several years ago, “I have had a good life. I have had the opportunity to travel and have many fond memories with many good friends. I have enjoyed my life with my family and was kept strong and comforted by their love.”
Naomi was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Jerroll E. Briggs, D.O., and her brother Gary Arsenault.
She is survived by her son, Charles S. Payne and his wife Leticia; her step-son, Jerroll Briggs, Jr.; her grandchildren, Alex Payne and his wife Kimber, Danielle Finney and her husband Jeremy, Chris Briggs and his wife Leah, and Debbie Mason; her great-grandchildren, Ari Mae Payne, Charlee Marie Finney, Sierra Briggs, and Warren, Josh, Zach, and Colten Mason; her brothers, Marion Breshears and his wife Sally, and Mark Arsenault and his wife Linda; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
