Okey Lee Long “Oak” was born July 21, 1932 to Tom and Pearl Long in Kansas City, Kansas. He was the 3rd of 5 children. He received his public-school education at Northeast Junior High School, and Sumner High School. On September 26, 1987, he was united in Holy Matrimony to Addie Bea Bush, and to this union four children were born. His occupations include a hairstylist, bus driver, maintenance man and salesman for Blankenship. Okey was a servant and ordained minister of the Lord all his life. He was an angel sent from heaven who believed in Jesus with all his heart. He was such an amazing dad to all of his children. There was nothing we couldn’t have asked for that he didn’t do for us and that made him a true fighter. Okey Lee Long returned home to the good Lord Jesus on Friday, April 17, 2020 in Kansas City, Kansas.
Okey is survived by his wife Addie Bea Bush-Long and six children: Latrice Newman, Tamesia Long, Anaisia Long, India Long, Richard Long and Juan Long. He also is survived by his eight grandchildren and one great grandchild, along with one sister Brenda Sluch, husband Harry Sluch and brother in law Kenneth Moore along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Okey’s father Tom, mother Pearl, sister Maudela, sister Mary, brother Robert and son Okey Jr. all preceded him in death.
“We are going to miss our kind hearted and loveable husband and dad.”
