Phil was born on August 26, 1950, in Wichita, Kansas. He lived in Wichita, Topeka, and for more than 20 years in Kansas City, Kansas, before settling in Leavenworth, Kansas, in 1998. Phil dedicated 38 years of service to Associated Wholesale Grocers, retiring in 2011.
He was a devoted member of the Cathedral of St. Peter. Phil had a lifelong love of sports, whether it was football, baseball, or basketball, he could always be found cheering for his favorite teams: the Chiefs, Royals, and Jayhawks.
Phil is survived by his loving wife of over 52 years, Regina “Jeanie” Brownberger Collins, of the home; his children, Christopher (Ellen) of Kansas City, KS, Nicholas of Kansas City, KS, and Jeffrey (Crystal) of Omaha, NE; and his siblings, Joe Collins of Kansas City, KS, Nancy Pack of Idaho Springs, CO, and Richard Collins of Spring Hill, KS.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Chapel Hill - Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas, on November 4, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. A memorial service will follow at the same location, starting at 11:00 am. Please plan to join the family for a memorial luncheon immediately following the service.
