Ralph Kerry Hendricks, 59, of Basehor, KS passed away Sun. Feb. 3, 2013. He had been battling for his life for the past four years after a stroke in Jan. of 2009. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m., Fri., Feb. 8th at Chapel Hill-Butler, 701 N. 94th St., KCK. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thurs. at the funeral home. Interment will follow the services in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Ralph Kerry was born Mar. 31, 1953 in KCK to Ralph T. and Marie F. Hendricks. He graduated from Wyandotte in 1971 and worked for Fairbanks Morse as a machinist until 1985, when he moved to Colgate-Palmolive until his retirement in 2006. He was a union member throughout his working life. Ralph married Rose Ann Nick on April 8, 1983 and has enjoyed 30 years of marriage to the love of his life. He was an avid outdoorsman; he loved to fish for catfish and crappie, search for morel mushrooms and watch for birds. Ralph enjoyed watching most sports, especially baseball, and one of his greatest joys was watching his boys play baseball. One of Ralph’s favorite pastimes in his younger years was going bowling with his wife. Ralph was known as a Mr. Fix-It, he could make anything with wood and metal; he especially enjoyed helping his sons with their school projects, though he tended to go a bit overboard in their construction.
Kerry was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Thomas Hendricks in 1990 and uncle, Van Hall. He is survived by his wife, Rose Ann Hendricks; three sons, Craig, Ryan (Joanna), Eric, and stepson Travis Metsker (Ryanne); mother, Marie; sister, Linda McCoy (Joe); as well as grandchildren Caleb, Sophie, Brock, and Harper. All of his family and friends and his beloved dog Toto will miss him dearly.
