Ralph W. (Ace) Lichtenberger Jr., 92 of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away peacefully February 21, 2019 in the comfort of his current residence with family and caring friends by his side. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 pm with services immediately following at 2:00 pm, Monday, February 25, 2019 at Chapel Hill – Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, KS 66112. Burial will follow at the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Ralph was born December 4th, 1926 in Wichita, Kansas to Ralph W. Lichtenberger Sr. and Maggie Jane Lichtenberger. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps for eight years and is a World War II and Korean War time veteran. He was a proud employee of Southwestern Bell where he earned the nickname “Ace” for 40 years before retiring in 1987. Ralph migrated to warmer climates in winter months for nearly 16 years of his retirement staying active in numerous and victorious shuffle board competitions. Ralph was a kind and gentle man, loyal husband of 70 years and a good father and grandfather.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph W. Lichtenberger Sr. and Maggie Jane Lichtenberger, and sisters Maxine Koran and Margaret Lichtenberger.
He is survived by his wife Iris Pauline Lichtenberger, brother Carl Lichtenberger and his wife Betty Lichtenberger of Kansas City, KS, sons Steve Lichtenberger and his wife Julia Lichtenberger of Sun Lakes, AZ, Mark Lichtenberger and his wife Maria Lichtenberger of Los Angeles, CA and Dan Lichtenberger and his wife Kim Lichtenberger of Mexico, MO as well as six grandchildren Beth, Kyle, Matthew, John Paul, Steven & Dana along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
