
Richard “Dick” Comer, 82, of Edwardsville, KS, passed away July 22, 2015 at home surrounded by family. Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 27th at the Edwardsville City Cemetery, 1501 S 104th St., Edwardsville, KS 66111. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Dick was born February 2, 1933 in Oklahoma City, OK to Everett and Mary Comer. He joined the Army in February of 1950 and served during the Korean War. After leaving the Army, he returned to finish High School and met the love of his life, Janice Bell. They married April 29, 1955 and Dick started college at University of Oklahoma City, though with family obligations, he left to pursue work for Oklahoma City Gas and Electric then later for AT&T. He went back to school and graduated from UMKC with a B.A. in Art History. Dick was a member of the NRA, was an avid golfer and painter; he enjoyed building model railroads and was an American History buff. His proudest moments were the birth of his sons, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters. He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Janice Comer; his sons, David Comer and his wife Sara, and Daniel Comer and his wife Susan; his grandchildren, Lauren Fracassa and her husband Spencer, Adam, Samuel, Charles, Seth, Katie and Thomas Comer; and great-granddaughters, Adley, Eizley, and Lorelai Fracassa.
