Richard Freeze attended Rosedale High School, then enlisted in the Army and served his country in Korea until 1962. He will always be remembered as a great Husband, father, and brother. He was known as a man who could always be counted on to help and do the right thing.
His hobbies included golf, fishing, and wooed people with his gardening skills, especially his huge tomato plants. His favorite thing was mowing his yard.
He leaves behind his wife of 64 years, Sandra Freeze; his son, Jeff Freeze of Westwood, Kansas; and his daughter, Suzette Willey of Riverside, Missouri. He is also survived by two brothers, LeRoy Freeze of Silvis, Illinois, and Leland Freeze of Gladstone, Missouri; as well as one sister, Clara Proksch of Atchison, Kansas.
He is preceded in death by his father, Leo Fay Freeze, and his mother, Verena Freeze; his brothers, Eugene Freeze, Bob Freeze, Lenny Freeze, Bill Freeze, Delbert Freeze, and Earl Freeze; and his sisters, Luella Lawrence, Ruth Carroll, June Pearson, Lois Rehn, Kay Kling, Velma Kuhn, and Marilyn Freeze.
Visitation will be held at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas 66112, on May 5, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by a Funeral Service at the same location on May 5, 2026, beginning at 11:00 am.
