Robert Chapman

Robert Gene Chapman, 83, of Basehor, Kansas, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Friday, February 11, 2011. He will forever be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and great grandfather.

Gene was born on November 15, 1927 in Westville, Oklahoma to Roy and Ollie (Langley) Chapman. He served his country honorably in the U.S.Army. Gene will be remembered by his family and friends as a country and western singer.

Gene is preceded in death by his parents, grandson Chris Estep, 9 brothers and 1 sister.

Survivors include his wife Bonnie Chapman of the home, son Michael Chapman of Shawnee, Kansas and daughter Patti Brown and her husband Dennis of Kansas City, Kansas. Left behind to cherish his memory are his three grandsons Bryan Estep, Steve Cushenbery and Michael Chapman and his wife Lynn. He will be sadly missed by his three great grandsons Josh, Austyn and Gerid Estep. Gene is also survived by his sister Helen Williams and her husband JB of Colcord, Oklahoma.

Funeral services were held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at the Wyandotte County Christian Church 13700 Leavenworth Rd. Kansas City, Kansas, Burial with Military Honors was in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends were invited to call from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, February 14, 2011 at the Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home. In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to `Wyandotte County Christian Church.
