Robert Joe Pack

Born on March 31, 1936, in Kansas City, Kansas, Robert spent most of his life in Wyandotte County, a community he loved deeply and proudly called home. Shortly before his passing, he returned to his beloved "Dotte" roots. Robert lived a full and meaningful life, leaving behind a legacy of service, leadership, and dedication to his country, his community, and his family.

Robert found the love of his life at a young age when he met the girl next door, Helen Lumley. Their childhood friendship blossomed into a lifelong love story. They were married in 1958 and were blessed with two daughters. Together they shared 45 wonderful years of marriage, building a life centered on family, friendship, and adventure. The Lake of the Ozarks became their home away from home, where they enjoyed fishing, boating, and creating treasured memories with family and friends.

A proud veteran, Robert honorably served in the United States Marine Corps as a noncommissioned officer. Following his military service, he dedicated his professional life to protecting and serving others through the Kansas City, Kansas Fire Department. During his distinguished 35-year career, Robert rose to the rank of Battalion Chief of Communications, a position he held until his retirement in 1995. His leadership, integrity, and commitment to public safety earned the respect of both his colleagues and the community he served.

Robert's passion for learning and service extended throughout his life. As a student, he was a proud member of the National Honor Society and the National Athletic Scholarship Society. He furthered his education at Kansas City Kansas Community College and attended the prestigious National Fire Academy. In addition, he became a Certified Electronic Technician and held a First Class Radio Telephone License. He was also a former member and Vice President of Local 64 of the International Association of Fire Fighters, where his leadership and advocacy positively impacted countless firefighters and their families.

Robert was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Helen (Lumley) Pack; his parents, Michael and Edna Pack; and his brother, Mike Pack.

He leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish his memory, including his daughters, Peggy Sixta (Jeff) and Cheryl Pack (Scott Baldwin); his grandson, Matt Sixta; his granddaughter, Megan Wallace (Cody); his treasured great-granddaughter, Parker Wallace; and his dear sister, Phyllis Brooks (Garey). He also leaves behind many friends, former colleagues, and community members whose lives were touched by his kindness, generosity, and unwavering character.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to The Piper, Kristie Logan, the dedicated nursing staff, Madi Todd and the Elevate Hospice team, as well as the many physicians, nurses, and caregivers at The University of Kansas Health System who provided exceptional care, comfort, and compassion during Robert's final days.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas 66112, followed by funeral services at 11:00 a.m. Robert's final resting place will be Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Kansas City, Kansas.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Sixta, Matt Sixta, Cody Wallace, and Scott Baldwin.

Robert will be remembered for his steadfast devotion to family, his distinguished service to his country and community, his strong work ethic, and the countless lives he touched throughout his 90 years. His legacy of honor, kindness, and dedication will live on in all who knew and loved him.
