Robert (Bob) A. Slater, 79, of Lenexa, Kansas, passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2011 at the family home. Visitation will be Saturday, September 10, 2011 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 9400 State Avenue, Kansas City, Kansas, with funeral mass to follow at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Bob is survived by his wife of 56 years, Stella M. Slater; his children, Roxann and Jim Debrecht, of Lenexa, Kansas, Kirk Slater of Topeka, Kansas, and Lisa and David Reardon, of Olathe, Kansas. Bob is also survived by seven grandchildren, Metra and Doug Holz, Sarah Malekyar, Angie Malekyar, Kyle Slater, Nick Reardon, Ryan and Tyler Debrecht; as well as, two great-grandchildren, Sophia Holz, and Aiden Holz. Bob is also survived by his sister, Patricia Brown; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Bob and Mary Ann Dercher, and Jack and Phyllis Loun, and many nieces and nephews.
Bob was a graduate of De La Salle High School and attended Kansas City Kansas Community College. Bob owned Slater Printing for over fifty years and belonged to the Graphic Arts Union. Bob was a long-time member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, and was active in CYO Sports. Bob was also an active Coach and Sponsor of youth sports through the Wyandotte and Johnson County Youth Sports Associations. Bob was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, and will be missed by everyone that his life touched.
