Roxanne was born in Kansas City, Kansas on September 30, 1964 to Marvin and Helen States. She was the oldest of three children, one preceded her in death. Roxanne graduated from Turner High School in 1983. She worked at Lady Baltimore as a computer programmer and also attended Kansas City Kansas Community College for 1 year. Roxanne spent 20 years as a homemaker raising her four beautifully eccentric children.
Her interests included family, reading, writing, puzzles, horror movies, animals, and motorcycles. She was an avid NASCAR fan with her favorite driver being Jeff Gordon. She devoted most of her time and energy as a caregiver to family members, including her grandmother until she passed away at the age of 90. She always dreamed of having a ranch in Colorado with acres of land with horses on it.
Roxanne had a bright and energetic personality and was known for her ability to sense when people needed her help. She touched many lives with her generosity and passion for life.
She was preceded in death by her sister Debra States, Father Marvin States, and paternal , Rosalie States and Raymond States, grandparents James Davis and Helen Mikesell. She is survived by her mother Helen States, and step father Ronald Smith sister Kimberly States, her children’s father Douglas Hawkins, four children: Shaun Hawkins, Joshua (Melody) Hawkins, Crystal (Michael) Kaestner, and Alexxis Hawkins. Four grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
A service will take place on Monday June 10th, 2024 at Chapel Hill-Butler funeral home, 701 N 94th street, Kansas City, KS 66112. Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 am with a service and burial to honor Roxanne, immediately following visitation at 11:00 am. There will be a luncheon following the burial at the Mary Ann Flunder Lodge by the Lake at Kansas City Kansas Community College.
