

Roy was born on November 3rd, 1941 in Kansas City, MO, to the parents of Oscar W. Jones and Wilma A. (Beck) Jones. He went to high school through his Sophomore year and then dropped out of high school, in order to work to support his family. He became an iron worker and worked in the Iron Workers Local 10, until he retired in 2001.
In August 1958, Roy married his first love and childhood sweetheart, Velma Fay Gilpin. They were married for 39 years and had four children: Pattie, Danny, Paul, and John. Velma passed away. Then Roy married Linda Jones, and she passed away. Then last but not least, Roy married the second love of his life, Delores I. (Klingele) Jones who had six children of her own: Kim, Mike, Shawn, Heather, Jennifer, and Damian; for a total of ten children.
Outside of work, Roy had a passion for fishing and hunting. He loved the outdoors and Ozark hills of Missouri. When Roy first had a family, he moved them around frequently. They lived in Arkansas where their oldest child was born, and he had fond memories of working in the lumbermill with his uncle. They also lived in Sugar Creek, MO, and moved back to Arkansas where their youngest child was born. He lived in Wheatland, MO, where he built a house; after that, he moved the family to Missouri City, MO.
Roy loved visiting with family, friends, and strangers, and was always up for a good party. Later in life, he loved riding his motorcycle and taking bike trips. He loved performing and running Karaoke at local establishments. He loved any reason to talk to people and get them excited to party.
Roy is survived by his wife, Delores of 25 years; children: Pattie (Dominick) Balano, Danny (Diane), Paul, and John Jones; Kim (Jim) Zinck, Mike (Judi), Shawn (Janet), and Damian (Brandy) Klingele, Heather (Shane) Turney, and Jennifer Klingele; grandchildren: Tylisha, Phillip, Marie, Amanda, Sarah, Megan, Eric, Andrea, Hannah, Seth, Morgan, Johnathan, Hunter, Nicole, Nicholas, Jimmy, Jacob, Peter, Catherine, Caleb, Robby, Trinity, Kiersten, Zack, Cecelia, Daphne, Missa, Lily, Brianna, Killian; and 21 great grandchildren; his sister, Phyllis Keith; and his niece, Pamela Tann.
Roy was preceded in death by his wives, Velma, and Linda; his parents, Oscar and Wilma (Beck) Jones; and his grandparents.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, June 8th, 2026 at 12:00pm at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 701 N. 94th Street, Kansas City, KS. 66112. Following the service, a luncheon will be held at 1:30pm at St. Patrick’s Church in the parish hall, 1086 N. 94th Street, Kansas City, KS. 66112. All are welcome to attend.
