Ruby Pearl White, 82, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 21, 2023 with her loved ones at her side. Ruby was born on September 29, 1940 in Shubuta, Mississippi, the natural daughter of Winnie Pickens and Floyd Mayhan plus adopted parents Robert and Bessie Pickens.
Ruby is survived by her husband, Henry White Sr, and her four living children plus two “bonus” children - Henry White Jr (Carolyn), Robert White (Nanette), Winnie Boykin, Dennis White (Rebecca), William Arrington (Sandra) and Sandra Faye Sears (Walter). Ruby was also the mother of Doug White (Lorie), who passed away on February 23, 2021 at the age of 62. Ruby is also survived by her “bonus” sister, Sharon Pace (James). Ruby’s brother, Henry “Bob” Chapman passed away in August 2023 at the age of 84. Ruby has ten grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and was “bonus” Grandma to many others who she loved deeply and cared considerably.
Ruby married Henry White, Sr on June 6, 1955. They were married 68 years. Ruby and Henry fell in love, started their family then moved to Kansas City, Kansas. She never forgot her hometown of Shubuta, Mississippi and kept her southern roots alive by hosting family and friends in their fun filled home while making precious memories.
Ruby’s faith was an integral part of her life. She was a dedicated member of Trinity U.M.C for many years and spent the last few years as a member of Hillview C.O.G. She enjoyed Joel Osteen and was faithful to study God’s word.
Ruby was known as a “Fashionista”, she had an impeccable sense of style and adorned the latest fashions from head to toe with accessories and polished nails to match. She took "Shop 'til You Drop" to a new level while being a bargain hunter extraordinaire. Her favorite color is purple, which reflects her sophistication and elegance.
Ruby was a woman of integrity and humility. Ruby was raised on a farm and had an affinity for animals and gardening, carrying on a tradition started by her adopted parents. She spent most summers planting and nurturing her garden. She was an exceptional cook who enjoyed the fruits of her labor from the garden.
