

Ruth Marie (Stephens) Ross, 86, of KCK, passed away Jan. 20, 2017 at Kansas City Hospice House. Memorial services will be 5:00pm, Thurs., Jan. 26th at Chapel Hill – Butler, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas, with inurnment to follow at a later date in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Ruth was born December 11, 1930 in Kansas City, Kansas to Frederick and Mary Stephens. She married the love of her life, James Ross, on December 23, 1948. Ruth worked for Poindexters and as a quality inspector for a luggage factory, but her heart was at her home with her beloved family. She was known for her delicious chocolate chip cookies, pies, and homemade bread. Ruth loved her bible study group and watching movies when she could. She had a kind and generous heart and will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, James Ross; her son, Michael Ross; her brothers, William, John, Joseph, Jacob, Roy, and Lawrence Stephens; and her sisters, Annabelle Stich, and Janet Ogden.
Ruth is survived by her daughter, Zelda McCowan and her husband Kenneth; her honorary son, David Colston and his wife Susan; her brother, Raymond Stephens and his wife Winona; her daughter-in-law, Judy Ross; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
