

Ruthie M. Hale, 93, formerly of Edwardsville, Kansas, went home to the Lord on October 4, 2011. Ruthie was born on June 18, 1918 in Waco, Texas to Mary Lorena Hightower and William Green Riley. She married Wesley Hale, Sr. on July 11, 1936 and they had four children. Ruthie was a cook at Sinai Grade School in Kansas City, KS for 20 years. She was a faithful member of Mission Creek Baptist Church, a talented cook, baker and seamstress. She was a gentle spirit who loved her Lord and her family and who was much loved in return. Her husband, Wesley, predeceased her in 1990. She is survived by her children: Mary Hale, Kansas City, KS; Betty (Chuck) Kopel, Lenexa, KS; Wesley “Jim” Hale, Jr. (Jennie) Edwardsville, KS; and Linda (Gary) Anderson, Basehor, KS; six grandchildren: Kelly Hale, Jason (Tracy) Anderson, Stephen Kopel, Kathryn (Jesse) Johnson, Christopher Kopel and Laura Anderson; and four great-grandchildren: Austin Johnson, Alexis Johnson, Logan Anderson and Addison Anderson. A Celebration Of Life for Ruthie will be held at 12:00 Noon, Friday, October 7, at the Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., KC, KS. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 11:00 Friday until service time.
