Sarah Nell Cole

Sarah N. Singleton was born to the late Sam and Emma Jean Williams Singleton in Ruston, Louisiana on April 13th 1949. Her sisters, Birdia Lee Thomas and Mary Lee Jones preceded her in death. Sarah graduated from Lincoln Parish Public School in Ruston, LA. She also graduated from Grambling State University.

At a young age, she accepted Christ and joined St. Peter Baptist Church. Later, she moved to Zion Travelers Baptist Church in Ruston. In the 1970s, Sarah relocated to Kansas City, KS where she continued her culinary skills. After living in Kansas, she became a member of Saint Stephen Baptist Church in Kansas City, Missouri. Sarah worked for AVTS/ATS for over 25 years. After retiring for two years, she returned to work for Kansas City Kansas Community College.

Many people knew Sarah for her tongue (very straight forward) with a smile and sometimes a laugh with it. Everyone knew Sarah for her Southern cooking, her flowers, dancing, and family.

Sarah leaves to cherish memory, a son, Tyson L. Cole Jr.; a daughter, Carolyn Johnson (James) of Kansas City, KS; two brothers, Sammy E. Singleton (Delaine) of Ruston, LA and Lamar W. Singleton of Kansas City, KS; two grandchildren, Jazmine and Deion Johnson of Kansas City, KS; one aunt, Billie Crawford of Kansas City, KS; one uncle, Joseph Burns, Sr. of Kansas City, MO; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

I am so sorry for your loss of your mom, grandmother. I will miss seeing her smile and hearing her wonderful laugh! Sarah always asked how my new grandson and my own children were doing as she was interested and cared so much for others. She will be missed by so many. Prayers and hugs to your family.
