Stella Marie Slater, 91 passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at Hospice House Olathe. Visitation will be Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 9am at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1086 N 94th Street, Kansas City, KS with a memorial mass to follow at 10am. Burial to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Stella was preceded in death by her parents, John and Stella Dercher, her husband of 56 years, Bob Slater, her son Kirk Slater, her son-in-law Jim Debrecht, her brother-in-law Jack Loun and her brother Gregory Dercher.
She is survived by her children, Roxann Slater Debrecht of Lenexa, KS and Lisa and David Reardon of Olathe. Stella is also survived by her grandchildren, Metra and Doug Holz of Leawood, KS, Sarah Malekyar and Danny Prock of Gladstone, MO, Angela Malekyar of Kansas City, MO, Ryan and Hailey Debrecht of Louisburg, KS, Tyler Debrecht of Gladstone, MO and Nick Reardon of Olathe, KS. Stella is survived by her great grandchildren, Sophia, Aiden and Logan Holz of Leawood, Xander, Axel Malekyar and Lily Etters of Kansas City, MO, Jameson Debrecht of Gladstone, MO and Brantley Debrecht of Louisburg, KS. Stella is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Mary Ann Dercher and her sister Phyllis Loun of Kansas City, KS along with many nieces and nephews.
Stella was a graduate of Ward High School. She was a lifetime member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and the Altar Society at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. She was also a member of the St. Bernadette Circle of the church. Stella worked part-time in sales for Time-Life books and Parents Magazine She watched most of her grandchildren for many years while they were growing up and was known as Grandma Stella and Nana. She was a great story teller for her grandchildren.
Stella was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, nana, friend and neighbor and will be greatly missed by everyone that her life touched.
