

Steven Gilbert Bowman, 57, died unexpectedly on February 21, 2013. He was born on September 27, 1955 to Gilbert and Louise (Kissee) Bowman, and was welcomed by his two older loving sisters, Karen and Marita. A visitation will be held Wednesday, February 27th from 6:00 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street. Funeral service will be Thursday, February 28th at 11:00 a.m. at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home. Inurnment will be at a later date in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Kansas City Symphony.
Steven was a generous and loving son, brother, husband, father and uncle. He was raised in the Christian faith, and was baptized at Wesley Methodist Church in Kansas City, Kansas. His generosity is in evidence by his desire to be an organ donor, as he wanted to ease the pain and prolong the life of others.
Steven was a talented musician, as were his parents. In his teen years, he and his friends formed a band and played in local venues.
In 1986, Steven married the love of his life, Alice “Nana”.
At the time of his death, Steven was employed by the U.S. Postal Service for 30 years. Steven had a wonderful sense of humor, and was fair and just with all who met him. Steven was a great man and will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
Steven is pre-deceased by his father, who passed away in 1992; his step-father, John Schmidt in 1995. He is also pre-deceased by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Bowman; son, John Bowman; daughter, Kelly Bowman; step-son, David James; mother, Louise Schmidt; sisters, Karen Baughman (Mike), Marita Bowman (Pam Mitchell), Glenda Hamer (Ed); step-sister, Denise Schmidt (Bruce Roark), and many friends and relatives. He is also survived by his beloved kitty, M’press (Miss Priss), as well as Maki (kitty), Emmy and Piggy (pups).
