Susan L. Miller

Susan L. Miller, 54, of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away Friday, July 22, 2011 at Providence Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. Memorial Services will be 6:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 26th at the Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street in Kansas City, Kansas, and she will be laid to rest in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens at a later date. Friends may visit from 5:00 P.M. until service time, and then again after the service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Susan was born October 21, 1956 in Kansas City, Kansas to Joseph D. Burks, Jr. and Wilma Lee (Boyd) Burks. A lifelong area resident, she graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1974 and Area Vocational Technical School in 1994. After graduation, Susan was hired to manage the bookstore at Area Vocational Technical School, which is now known as the Kansas City Kansas Community College Technical Education Branch Bookstore, where she was still working. Susan was a member of the Eagles Lodge, and enjoyed playing Bingo there. She also liked playing poker and going to movies, but she truly loved being a grandma. Survivors include her husband, Herb Miller, Jr. of the home; 2 daughters, Crystal Mason and her husband Jeremy of Kansas City, Kansas, and Hattie Smith of the home; 1 grandson, who was the apple of her eye, Jackson Mason; her brother Dennis Burks and his wife Debbie of Lenexa, Kansas; and 10 nephews and nieces.
