Susan Kay Sanders (née Wagner) passed away after a truly courageous battle with Covid on Sept. 18. She was born Nov. 5th 1957 to John and Shirley Wagner in Kansas City, KS and spent her life living in the Kansas City area, residing in Overland Park. Susan worked at her family company, Wagner Logistics for her entire career and was looking forward to retirement.
Susan was a huge fan of her Chiefs and KU Basketball both of which games she never missed and could talk football and basketball with the best of them. Susan loved going to the Lake of the Ozark, something she did since childhood. She lived for the holidays; Easter, Thanksgiving and especially Halloween but Christmas is where she really shone. She loved nothing more than showering people with gifts something at which she genuinely excelled. She made Christmas an event that was everything it is supposed to be and more keeping it fueled with her eggnog.
However the thing that Susan really excelled at was her love for her 3 children and her 5 grandchildren. Susan built her whole life around her children. She would do anything for them and never put herself first in any way. When people pass there is a tendency to over embellish their good qualities but it is no over embellishment to say Susan was the most selfless person you could have ever known.
Susan is survived by her 3 children Amy (Ciaran) Molloy, Melissa Sanders and Matthew Sanders, her 5 grandchildren Violet, Marley, Fiona, Chloe and Nova, her mother Shirley Wagner, siblings Pamela Siegert, John Wagner and James Wagner and her dear extended family.
Susan will be missed more than can be eloquently said here and left us too early.
The family would like to thank the incredibly kind and hardworking staff at St. Luke's ICU. In addition the family also asks that everyone please do all they can to keep themselves healthy and free of this awful virus.
A visitation will be on Friday, Sept. 24 from 1:00-2:00 pm with a funeral service at 2:00 pm at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 N 94th St, KCKS 66112.
