Terrell Lee “Terry” Young, 64, of Lake Lotawana, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly on September 28, 2026. Born in Kansas City, Kansas, Terry grew up in the Kansas City area before later moving to Missouri, where he remained for the rest of his life.
He was the beloved son of Stephen and Shirley Young and grew up alongside his sister, Kelly Scrivner (Young). He also carried in his heart the memory of his younger brother, who passed shortly after birth.
Terry married the love of his life, Chandra Young. Their time together, though far too short, was filled with devotion, joy, and a deep connection that stayed with Terry throughout his life. Her passing left a space that he honored deeply.
For more than 20 years, Terry built a dedicated career at AT&T. He was known for his strong work ethic, reliability, and the steady presence he brought to every role he held. His coworkers respected him not only for his skill, but for the genuine kindness and humor he carried with him each day. Terry also loved sharing his homemade beef jerky with his coworkers — a small tradition that became one of the many ways he showed care and camaraderie. It was just one more thing that made him unforgettable to the people who worked alongside him.
A lifelong car enthusiast, Terry’s passion for vehicles was unmistakable. He loved everything about them — driving, fixing, trading, researching, and talking about them. If a car made a strange noise, refused to start, or simply needed an honest opinion, Terry was the one to call. He could diagnose a problem before most people finished describing it, and he always knew whether it was worth fixing or time to “just get rid of it.”
Beyond his mechanical expertise, Terry had a gift for the hunt — the thrill of finding a good deal. Whether he was searching for a vehicle, a tool, or any everyday purchase, he approached it with enthusiasm, patience, and a sharp eye. Wheeling and dealing wasn't just something he did; it was part of who he was.
Terry will be remembered for his knowledge, humor, loyalty, and the steady reliability he offered to the people he loved. His presence was a comfort, his advice a constant, and his passions unmistakable.
He leaves behind family and friends who will forever cherish his memory, his stories, and the countless ways he made life easier, brighter, and more interesting.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
