A visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on October 30th at Chapel Hill Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am.
Terry was born in Kansas City, Kansas on October 20th, 1936 to mother Bonnie Raye and father Charles Bohanon. After graduating from Wyandotte High School, he proudly joined the United States Air Force, serving in the 10th Air Division from June 1954 to December 1957 when he received an honorable discharge. He remained deeply committed to supporting fellow veterans throughout his life.
After his military service, he began a long career with Philips Petroleum at the Fairfax refinery, where he worked for more than twenty years before retiring in 1991. He later worked for the Piper School District where he continued to find purpose serving his community.
He was a lifelong sports fan, his heart firmly belonging to the Chiefs, Royals, and Jayhawks. He spent many years coaching youth teams, usually alongside his son with whom he shared an indelible love of all sports. He watched every matchup with the insight and passion of a true coach. His love of the game never faded, and he never missed a broadcast--or a chance to tease family members who rooted for the wrong team.
He also had a deep appreciation of automobiles, especially his beloved pickup truck, a love he passed down to and shared with his daughter. When he wasn't behind the wheel, he could often be found tending his yard on his trusted lawn tractor.
Terry's steady presence was a source of comfort to all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his son, Thomas Bohanon of Lenexa, KS, his daughter Susan Ryan of York, NE; his sisters Judith Sereno, and Marsha Martinek; his grandchildren Oliver Bohanon, Eric Bohanon, Brittany Terra Hullinger, Chace and Leslie Ellis; and his great grandchildren Gauge Michael Hullinger, Colten Thomas Hullinger, Gabriel Joseph Ellis, and Olivia Rayne Ellis.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Larry and Donna Schultz, Debbie Krivjansky, and Jordan Schaecher for their incredible kindness and support that helped Terry spend his final days at home, where he felt most at peace.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Terry's honor to the veteran's charity Building Homes for Heroes (www.buildinghomesforheroes.org).
