Born on May 13, 1943, in Cicero, Illinois, Terry was the son of Ralph E. and Hestor S. Mickelson. He was preceded in death by his children, John, Michelle, and Darren, whom he now joins in heaven.
Terry is survived by his loving wife, Linda; his brother, Dennis; his sister, Monica; his stepchildren, Jeanette and James; his grandchildren, Collin, Kayleen, Jacob and Emily; and his step-grandchildren, Kathleen, Melanie, and Megan.
To those who knew him, he was simply known as “TR.” He had a deep love for his family and friends, as well as a passion for cigars and Corvettes.
Terry graduated from Central Missouri State University and enjoyed a successful career with Employers Reinsurance Corporation, a division of General Electric. He retired as a Vice President after many years of dedicated service.
Following retirement, Terry and his wife Linda moved to Sun City West, Arizona, where they spent the remainder of his life. He was a proud member of a local softball team and served as its pitcher. Always embracing adventure, Terry also enjoyed attending auto racing events to satisfy his lifelong need for speed.
Terry was a larger-than-life man with an equally large heart. His warmth, generosity, and friendship touched many lives, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A visitation will be held at Chapel Hill Funeral Home on Saturday, July 11, beginning at 10:00 a.m. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m., with a brief graveside service and luncheon afterward.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Kansas City in honor of Terry's mother.
