
Thomas E. “Tom” Patton, 84, passed away Thursday, July 21, 2011 at his home in Kansas City, Kansas. Memorial Services are private, and the family requests that any memorial contributions be made to Odyssey Hospice. Tom was born August 10, 1926 in Kansas City, Missouri to Joseph and Flossie Pearl (McKinzie) Patton. A lifelong area resident, he attended Washington High School, but left early to join the United States Navy to serve during World War II. After his return, he worked for General Motors for 12 years, before becoming an Electrical Wireman for Midwest Metal. After leaving Midwest, Tom became a Security Guard for Colgate Palmolive, until he left in 1988. After leaving Colgate, he and his wife retired to Springdale, Arkansas, and lived there 18 years, before returning to Kansas City, Kansas. Tom enjoyed collecting belt buckles, especially those with eagles on them. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Liz Porterfield, and his wife, Betty Patton in 2010. Survivors include his 2 daughters, Tonya E. Leibold of Overland Park, Kansas, and Tammy E. Porterfield and her husband Tim of Leavenworth, Kansas; his sister, Ola Marie Divers of Kansas City, Kansas; along with 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren to cherish his memory.
