Tou Yia Xiong

Tou was born on December 12, 1976 in Laos to Chue Chou Xiong and Shoua Yang. He married Maila Yang in July of 1996 and the couple had two children together. Tou was a great family man and a loving father.

He graduated from Wright Business School with a degree in Computer Science and worked as part of the tech support team at ASI Corporation for over 20 years. Tou was a member of the First Hmong Christian and Missionary Alliance Church of Kansas City and faithfully served as an Usher for many, many years. His warm, friendly smile welcomed everyone who walked through the church doors on Sunday mornings and will truly be missed.

Tou was a social, active man who loved hunting, fishing and spending time outdoors. He enjoyed grilling, gardening, raising chickens, hanging out with family and friends, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Tou was a humble, down-to-earth, genuine person and was known as a selfless man who was willing to help anyone in need. His family and friends will always remember him as a kind person with a big heart.

Tou Xiong is survived by his wife, Maila Yang; his mother, Shoua Yang and stepmother, Phoua Her; his grandmother Va Vang; his children, Danean (Hector) and Marcus Xiong; his grandchildren Alexia and Elias Gonzalez; his brothers Chu (Tang), Danny (Cindy), Peter, Joshua; his sisters; Song (Kai), Lu (Richard), Sandy, Judie (Cheng), Yer (Jack), Bla (Marcus), Alee (Jr), Youa (Bruce), Sarah (Wendy). He is preceded in death by his father, Chue Chou Xiong and his brothers Dang and Kou Xiong.

A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Sunday, February 20th from 2:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. with a funeral service to follow from 5:00 p.m – 8:00 p.m. at Faith Deliverance; Pastor Nou Yee Her of First Hmong C&MA Church of Kansas City will officiate. A funeral service will take place on Monday, February 21st from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home. Interment will be immediately following in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Tou Xiong’s life.
