Ginny graduated from Washington High School in 1960 and was employed by the Gas Service Company, Merck Sharp and Dohme, and the Wyandotte County Election Office.
A member of Stony Point Christian Church, Ginny had a servant’s heart volunteering for various activities. She was always cooking, prepping or running to the store to purchase whatever might be needed for some event. Most recently helping with the food pantry. Ginny was known for her generous spirit and loving nature, caring for both of her parents as they aged. Ginny was also the caregiver for Vance, her late husband. With a smile on her face, she was always ready to lend a hand or an ear to those in need, making her a beloved figure among her family and friends. She could always be counted on to provide her "famous" ham salad sandwiches for any event.
Over the course of her life, she enjoyed traveling. Trips to Las Vegas, hunting, fishing, and motorcycle riding. She was a member of the Tri-County Rod and Gun Club for years. She dedicated many years to Young Hunters Safety, educating young enthusiasts about responsible hunting practices. Ginny supported the Prairie Township Fire Department. She was an avid fan of KU basketball and the Kansas City Chiefs.
She is survived by her two sisters, Marjorie May (Duncan) Shore and Helen Charlene (Duncan) Ronimous (Melvin); nephew, Brian Shore (Lisa); nieces, Pamela Bennett (Dan), and Patricia Moore (David), Melissa Corcoran (Peter). Ginny also leaves behind a cherished group of great-nieces and nephews: Erin Shore, Spencer Shore, Troy Bennett, Scott Bennett (Maggie), Abigail Townsend (Vince), Clayton Moore (Jen), Isaac Moore (Adrianna), and Natalie Moore, Andrew Smith (Kelly), Jordan Smith, Mallory Drake (Josh) and was also a wonderful great-great aunt.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ishmael and Dorothy Duncan, her husband Vance Liston, brother-in-law Jim Shore, sister-in-law Janet Buford, brother-in-law Roger Smith, beloved nephews William (Bill) Ronimous, Keith Ronimous, Russell Shore, and Rob Buford.
The family is being assisted by Chapel Hill Funeral Home. Ginny's life and legacy will be celebrated in a manner befitting her remarkable spirit and the profound impact she had on those around her. Her kindness, warmth, vivacious spirit and beautiful smile will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
A visitation for Virginia will be held Monday, July 29, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Stony Point Christian Church, 149 S 78th St, Kansas City, KS 66111. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 AM. Graveside services will occur Monday, July 29, 2024 at 2:00 PM, at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 701 N 94th St, Kansas City, KS 66112.
