Virginia M. Summers, 95, of Lenexa, Kansas, Passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at the Lakeview Village Care Center. The visitation will be 1:00 - 2:00 PM with Funeral Services at 2:00 PM Monday, April 4, 2016 at the Porter Funeral Home located at 8535 Monrovia in Lenexa, Kansas. The burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens located in Kansas City, Kansas. Virginia was born February 14, 1921, to Walter and Lela (O'Leary) Summers in Kansas City, Kansas. Virginia graduated from the Bethany School of Nursing. She then served in the Army Nurse Corps (1942-1946), during WWII. Virginia retired from Phillips Petroleum Company after 34 years of devoted service. She volunteered for Pets for Life and was a volunteer at the Johnson County Public Libraries for 32 years. Virginia is survived by her sister, Mary Alice Patterson; niece, Dee Anne (Jerry) Harnden; Great niece, Marianne Boeh and special friend, Steve Smith; Great nephew, Jonathan (Kendra) Harnden; Great-great nephews, Dillon and Drew Boeh. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions to Lakeview Village Foundation (Good Samaritan Fund).
