Faith was the center of Wanda’s life, and her church was her second family. For many years she gave herself generously to the children of her congregation, teaching Sunday School, Weekday Church School, and Vacation Bible School. She believed every child should know they were loved — she made certain each one had a Christmas present every year, and when one couldn’t be bought, she simply made it herself.
Wanda had a gift for joy. She loved her family, her church friends and cruising the Caribbean with friends, playing games, visiting the casinos, and spending warm afternoons swimming and soaking up the sun. She had a fondness for watermelon, a quick and easy laugh, and a deep love for her husband, Dwayne Boice (deceased), Adopted Daughter MeeSun Boice (San Francisco, CA), sisters Ella Francis Rowe (Florida) and Lucille Walker (deceased). Those who knew her remember her generosity above all — the way she could stretch a meal so there was always plenty for everyone at her table, find joy in a good bargain, and share her love freely even through her own trials and hardships of losing her two biological children, Cheryl (deceased) and Steven Boice (deceased).
More than anything, Wanda loved people. She gave the warmest, biggest hugs, and she made everyone who came near her feel welcome and cared for. Her kindness, her faith, and her open heart touched every life she met.
Wanda was preceded in death by her husband, Dwayne Boice; her two precious children, Cheryl Boice and Stephen Boice; her parents, Beulah and Tim Burgess; her brother David Dean, and her sister, Lucille Walker.
She is survived by her beloved adopted daughter, MeeSun Boice; her dear older sister, Ella Frances Rowe; her nieces and nephews, Denise Oney, Dan Rowe; Denny, Duane and Bruce Walker, and Bruce Walker; Melanie and Linus Cesonis and Calvin Hicks, who was like a son to her; as well as her cherished friends (who were her second family) from her church at Argentine United Presbyterian Church, and by the many friends who became family over a lifetime of love.
