Wanda Kay Hamblin was born on the 3rd of August 1937 in Eureka, California. She grew up in several different cities in California which include Yosemite, Escondido, Carlsbad, Oceanside, and Los Angeles. After graduating high school, she met Robin on a blind date while he was stationed in California with the Marines.
“I always said that I wouldn’t marry a marine because I knew how they behaved. Well that all changed. We were married January 5, 1957.”
After living in California as a married couple for four months, they decided to move to Kansas City. Wanda was a devoted Christian, wife, mother of three children, Grandmother of five grandchildren and Great Grandmother of five great grandchildren. She had many friends in the neighborhood and in the local church. When she decided to work outside of the home, she worked at a local bakery, Central Kitchens and Washington High School where she retired from in 2005.
Through the years, Wanda and Robin grew their love of traveling and riding motorcycles even joining the Christian Motorcycle Club. They traveled by motorcycle or truck and made their way through Branson and Jamesport Missouri, Michigan, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Colorado, Louisiana, Texas, California and Mount Rushmore in South Dakota.
Wanda always had a true passion for sewing, which led to the creation of many quilts and pillows. She also loved to make needlepoint pictures which she shared with the family. We will always remember your goofy sense of humor, your Christmas and Easter homemade sugar cookies, and your love and generosity.
Wanda was preceded in death by her mother Bernice Brown in 1937, aunt mother Alma Stamm in 1976, brother Dennis Brown in 2006 and father Roy Brown in 2010.
She is survived by her husband Robin Hamblin, daughter Jody Tomlinson, son David Hamblin, daughter Gail Jaques & husband Mark, grandchildren, Stephanie, Stuart & Wife Melita, Steven, Michael & Matthew & great grandchildren Emilie, Christian, Olivia, Sterling, Nathaniel, Felicity, Nevaeh, Addam & Cora.
