Waneta Faye Reitemeier, 91, passed away July 14, 2013. A visitation will be held Friday, July 19th from 10:00-11:00 AM with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 AM at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, KS. Burial will be at Leavenworth National Cemetery, 150 Muncie Rd., Leavenworth, KS at 12:30 PM on July 19th. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 6811 Shawnee Mission Parkway, Shawnee Mission, KS, 66202.
Waneta was born to Ivan and Lena Todd in 1922. During her life she has lived in Crawfordsville, IN, Lafayette, INand moved to Kansas City, KS in 1957. She graduated from Crawfordsville High School and attended Central Normal College of Danville, IN. During WWII, Waneta served in the Marine Corp Women’s Reserve as a Corporal. She worked at the Journal Courier in Lafayette, IN. In 1950, Waneta married Charles Reitemeierand spent her time raising her 2 sons. She was an avid bingo player and enjoyed watching KU basketball and following her grandchildren in their activities.
Waneta is preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Charles Reitemeier and brothers, Robert and Carl Todd. She is survived by her sisters, Wanda Wien (her twin) and Linda Roberts; son Ed Reitemeier and wife Susan; grandchild, Matthew Reitemeier; son, Jim Reitemeier and wife Eva and grandchildren, Angela, Adam, and Aubree.
