

Wayne E Davidson, 78, of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away on June 18, 2012 at Garden Terrace of Overland Park. Services will be held at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, KS on Tuesday June 26th 2012. Visitation will be 10:00am to 11:00am, with services from 11:00am to 12:00pm. Interment will follow the services in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
In Lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Bethel Community of Christ, 8510 Leavenworth Rd, K.C., KS 66109 or Alzheimer’s Association. Envelopes will be provided at the Funeral Home.
Wayne was born on February 28, 1934 to Dora and Edith Davidson in Rich Hill, MO, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his step-father Raul Rameriz. Wayne attended schools in Rich Hill until his senior year, then went to Paseo High School in K.C.M.O. where he graduated in 1953, then went on to UMKC.
Wayne leaves his wife of 54 years Joan Shoemaker Davidson of the home, also his three children Kerry (Michael) Patrick of Edmonds WA, Kevin (Kimberly) Davidson of KCK, Ed (Theresa) Davidson of Blue Springs, MO. Seven Grandchildren, Cassandra (Alieu) Manjang, Kyle (Alisha) Davidson, Kendal Patrick (Bill Bauer), Katie Davidson, Joshua Davidson, Johnathon Davidson, Jerod Davidson. Five Great Grandchildren, Brennon and Perry Hamp-Coffee (Will and Ernie Hamp-Coffee), Samuel Kellogg, Harper Lou Bauer, Demba Manjang.
Wayne started working for the KC Star delivering newspapers as a young boy. He was employed by the KC Star for 44 years after a 6 year apprenticeship as a Printer. Wayne retired from the KC Star in 2000. Wayne was a member of the CWA/ICU Type graphical Union #80.
Wayne was a member of Community of Christ Grandview Congregation where he served as a Deacon, Priest and an Elder for a total of 52 years. He was the Pastor for 12 ½ years at the Grandview Congregation. When Grandview Congregation closed Wayne attended Bethel Congregation. Wayne also served as Adult Leader and a Youth Leader. Wayne worked at various youth camps in the K.C. Stake. Wayne did Hospital Ministry at various Hospitals in the greater Metro Area. He was active in the Community of Hope center in K.C.KS Ministering to the homeless and needy. Wayne was active in PTA at schools his children attended.
Wayne’s life was dedicated to his faith, community, and family. This making him a loving husband, a wonderful Father, and Father-In-law, a Super Grandfather and Great Grandfather. He cared for everyone that came into his life.
He will be greatly missed!
