

Wiley Joe Tatum, Sr., 80, of Kansas City, Kansas went to be with the Lord on July 17, 2017 at home surrounded by family. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 29, 2017 at Chapel Hill – Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas 66112. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 a.m., Saturday preceding the service. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Wiley Joe Tatum Sr., 80, was born August 14, 1936 to Lanice and Lena Mae Tatum in Chatham, Louisiana. He grew up in Louisiana and moved to Kansas City in the late fifties. He worked for the Central Bag Company for several years, became a custodian with District USD 500 and then retired after 24 years of service, he also worked as an independent plumber. He enjoyed listening to the blues, watching cowboy movies, baseball, wrestling, and enjoyed planting in his gardens.
He preceded in death by his parents, Lanice and Lena Mae Tatum; son, Wiley Joe Tatum Jr.; his brother, Lanice (LT) Tatum Jr.; sisters, Ethel Mae Wilson, Edna Mae Moten, and Louise Tatum; grandchildren, LaTrina Calahan, LaDeria Calahan, Walisa Weaver.
Wiley is survived by his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, brother, Will Tatum and his wife Orevia, sister, Merdis Watts and a host of nieces, nephews and relatives.
