Willy was born on March 3rd, 1960 in Kansas City, Kansas to William J. and Glenda L. (Barnhart) Colnar. He graduated from Washington High School in 1978. In 2015, he retired after more than 30 years of service as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service. Willy was a member of National Association of Letter Carriers and Moose Lodge #1999. In his younger days, he was also a semi-pro bowler and even once bowled a perfect 300 game! His family and friends will remember him best for dressing up as Santa at Christmas, dyeing his beard green for St. Patrick’s Day, his love for animals, and always having a joke to tell. Willy loved going to the race track and often made the annual pilgrimage for the Kentucky Derby.
Willy is preceded in death by his parents, William J. and Glenda L. (Barnhart) Colnar; and recently his favorite uncle, John “Uncle BB” Baker.
He is survived by his daughter, Megan Colnar of New York, NY; son, Derek Colnar of Cedar Park, TX; cousins, Paula, Moni, Debby; and 2nd cousin Phillip.
A Celebration of His Life will be held Saturday, June 1st, 2019 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM, with a sharing time held at 2:30 PM at Chapel Hill – Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas 66112.
