Addison James Roberts, 35, living in Wichita, Kansas (formerly of Overland Park, Kansas) lost his battle with Huntington’s Disease and a traumatic brain injury on March 6, 2026, just a week after celebrating his 35th birthday.
Addison (or Addiboo or Addy) was born on February 28, 1991, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Marybeth and Andrew A. Roberts. He was raised in the Kansas City and Overland Park area where he attended Blue Valley North High School. He was a member of Boy Scout Troop #122, reaching the level of Life Scout and was a proud member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. As a child he enjoyed skiing, biking, hiking, playing basketball and football. One of his biggest interests was the weather. He became a passionate storm chaser–the more tornados the better! He had the biggest dimples and kindest heart.
Though Addison’s life was impacted too soon by Huntington’s Disease and the traumatic brain injury, it did not steal his curiosity and passion for life, enjoying music, movies, cooking, photography and sports, especially KU Basketball, the Chiefs, and the KC Royals.
Addison was preceded in death by his father, Andrew A. Roberts; his grandparents, Ronald T. and Janice Roberts, James R. Cook and Donna Cook Critchlow, Catherine “Kitty” Roberts, and Ray Critchlow; his uncle, James J. Shannon; and aunt, Ann Roberts.
He is survived by his mother, Marybeth (Joe) Roberts; his brother, Drew (Hannah) Roberts; his aunts and uncles, Lisa and Dan Cuff, Bob and Jamie Cook, Lauren and Dennis Ross, Katherine (Bruce) Roberts, and David (Mona) Weigert; and many cousins, extended family members, and friends.
The family would like to thank all the caregivers and therapists that helped Addison over the last seven years. And a special thank you to Joseph Morales, Aunt Lauren and “Aunt” Deb for the countless drives across Kansas with Marybeth to visit Addison so she wouldn’t be alone.
Services will be held at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO 64131, US, on Thursday May 14, 2026. Visitation will begin at 10:00am, and the Celebration of Life will follow at 11:00am, with the reception immediately following. The committal of ashes will take place in Mount Moriah Cemetery following the reception.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: QLI (Quality Living. Inc.), 6404 N. 70th Plaza, Omaha, NE 68104; Huntington’s Disease Society of America, 505 8th Ave., Ste. 1402, New York, NY 10018-6588; or the charity of your choice.
