Adele S. Harris

Adele S. Harris, 96, of Raytown, MO passed away Aug. 2, 2018. Visitation 6-8pm on Wed., Aug. 8th with Rosary recited at 6pm at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 7009 Blue Ridge Blvd., Raytown, MO. Mass of Christian burial 10am Thurs., Aug. 9th at the church followed by interment in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Adele was born March 18, 1922 in Kansas City, MO to Frank Sr. and Sophia (Fritz) Kenning. As young newlyweds, Adele and her husband, Maynard moved to Raytown on Dec. 7, 1941. They were founding members of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish. Together they owned and operated Valentine Drive UR Self, Inc. in KCMO for 18 years. Maynard was born on a family farm in Diamond, MO in 1919 and in 2001 Adele and Maynard established Harris Family Properties to keep the farm in the family. They spent many happy years visiting the farm. Maynard was an avid fisherman and for over 30 years, Adele and Maynard spent time at their vacation home on Grand Lake o’ the Cherokees with family and friends.

Adele was preceded in death by her husband of 60+ years, Maynard; a daughter, Charlotte “Jane” Hunley; a son, Robert W. Harris; a brother, Frank Kenning, Jr. and a grandson, Scott D. Harris. She is survived by a sister, Delores Harkins; four grandchildren, Michael S. Hunley, Donald E. Hunley, Douglas M. Hunley and Jennifer Harris Roberts, several great and great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Adele was cherished by many and will be greatly missed by all.
