

Albert J. Farrington, 74, passed away Thursday, February 5, 2015 at the University of Kansas Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 11, 1940 in Kansas City, MO, to Albert E. Farrington and Julia Murphy Farrington. Al lived in the Kansas City area his entire life. He and Patricia (Beverley) Farrington were married for 54 years making their home in Kansas City where they raised their four children. Al retired from the Fairmont Dairy after 30 years of service as a wholesale driver. He went on to work for the Teamsters Local Union 207 as both a union steward and business agent. Al was a member of St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church for over 50 years. He served as Scoutmaster for BSA Troop 150 and was a member of the tribe of Mic-O-Say. He was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Al volunteered for numerous charities including the Sisters of St. Joseph Carondelet. Al was a devoted family man whose commitment and dependability were an inspiration to all who knew him. There was never a man who loved his children, grandchildren, and family including his beloved dogs more than Al Jo.
Al was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, William Denney. Survivors include his wife, Patricia (Beverley) Farrington, his children Patrick Farrington (Carol), Kathleen Walsh (Casey), Cynthia Steibel (James), and Sean Farrington (Dana). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Stephen Sparks, Julia Sparks, Matthew Farrington, Natalie Steibel, Jack Steibel, Lexy Farrington, Ty Farrington, Jada Farrington, Jake Walsh (Jennifer), Kevin Walsh, and great-grandson, Nathan Walsh.
A Memorial Mass will be held Monday, February 9th, 11:00 a.m., at Church of the Nativity 3800 West 119th Street, Leawood, KS 66209. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the Mass. Private burial. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of St. Joseph Carondelet, Kansas City, MO.
