Albert W. Rehkop, Jr.

Albert W. Rehkop, Jr., 81 of Leawood, Kansas passed away on Friday, May 13th, 2016 from natural causes. Celebration of Life Services will be held at McGilley State Line Chapel, 12301 State Line Road, KC, MO 64145 from 5:30pm-7:30pm on Monday, May 16th. Graveside Service will be held at Marysville (KS) City Cemetery at 2pm on Tuesday, May 17th.

Al was born on August 27th, 1934 in Sabetha, Kansas to Albert W. Rehkop, Sr. and Jane R. Rehkop. Al was raised in Marysville, Kansas where his parents owned and operated the Pacific Hotel. Al had many fond memories in the Pacific Hotel where he grew up. Al played football, golf and ran track for the Marysville Bulldogs. He attended the University of Kansas where he majored in Business Administration and was a member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity. After graduation Al ran hotels in California and Colorado, before returning to Marysville to purchase and operate the Pacific Hotel. After the hotel business, Al settled in Kansas City and began his lifelong career as a stock broker for Harris Upham, Shearson Lehman Brothers and completed his brokerage career as a shareholder with VSR Financial Services. Al had many friends and hobbies and never met a stranger. He loved KU Football and Basketball, Hunting, Fishing, Golf and the mountains. Al was a true sports advocate and loved nothing more than attending the sporting events of his sons and grandchildren.

Al was preceded in death by his parents and uncles. He is survived by his beloved wife, Janet, and two sons: John Rehkop and wife Terri and granddaughter Brady, of Charlotte, NC, and Scott Rehkop and wife Amy and grandsons Michael and Alex of Overland Park, KS; Stepson, Grant McRill and granddaughter Paige of Overland Park, KS, and stepdaughter Shannon Kalebaugh and husband Rick of KC, KS.
