

Albert Anton Stegeman, 92, passed away May 25, 2015 at home surrounded by family. Funeral services are 1:00 PM Friday, May 29th at the McGilley Antioch Chapel where a visitation will begin at 12:00 Noon. Burial, with military honors, will follow the service in Resurrection Cemetery, Kansas City, MO. In lieu of flowers contributions are suggested to the Leukemia Society.
Albert was born May 23, 1923 to Theodore and Carrie Stegeman in Jefferson City, MO, the fourth of seven children. Al served in the U.S. Army from 1942-46 earning two purple hearts in World War II on the European Front. He returned home to marry Virginia Bruns, moving shortly after to North Kansas City, where he began his profession as a printer. In 1949 he co-founded A&B Printing Service and remained as CEO until his retirement in 1989. Al was appointed to the North Kansas City Hospital Board of Trustees in 1963, serving as Chairman in 1965. He was co-founder of “Burnt Ends”, one of the original teams at the American Royal BBQ; and had a great love for baseball. Al was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Virginia; four brothers, Joe, Lee, Jim Stegeman and sister, Madeline Martin.
Survivors include two sisters, Theodora Cortvrient and Agnes Eiken; four children, Cynthia Hoenig (Tom), Cathleen Doherty (Pat), Karen Frey (Bob), Jon Stegeman (Laura), eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
