Aletha “Fern” Reed, 92, Kansas City, MO, and former resident of Wexford Place, passed away October 1, 2017 at New Mark Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. A visitation is scheduled from 6-8 PM Wednesday, October 4th at the McGilley Antioch Chapel where a funeral service will be at 10:30 AM Thursday, October 5th. Graveside services following at 1:00 PM Thursday at the Belton Cemetery, Belton, MO. Contributions are suggested to Children’s Mercy Hospital or Crossroads Hospice.
Fern was born July 2, 1925 in Gentry, MO to Gartha and Osa Osborn. Fern worked 38 years in the grocery store business and then in payroll for the federal government. For many years she was a volunteer for St. Joseph Hospital and did grocery store demos. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Lowe Reed; twin daughters, Cinda and Linda; and 2 sisters and 3 brothers.
Survivors include 3 daughters, Jene (Dan) Passmore, Carolyn “Sue” (Steve) Gallamore, and Debbie (Ernie) Toigo; her grandchildren, Mylissa (Mike) Russell, Ryun (Michelle) Yazel, Rene’ (Shawn) Sonne, Cinda (Keith) Rasmussen, Matthew (Stephanie) Royse, Kendra (John) Laffey, Joshua (Kimberly) Ford, and Jacob Ford; 17 great-grandchildren, a great great grandson; and her sister, Eva Butts.
