Alexander O. Florez, 88 of Kansas City, MO died July 4, 2015 at University of Kansas Medical Center. Mass of Catholic Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 9, 2015 at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, 1310 Westport Road, Kansas City, MO. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Kansas City, KS. Visitation will be 6-8 pm Wednesday, July 8 at McGilley Midtown Chapel, 20 W. Linwood Blvd., Kansas City, MO, where the rosary will be prayed at 7:30 pm.

Alexander was born January 11, 1927 in Kansas City, KS to Jose and Francisca (Ortega) Flores. He graduated from Argentine High School. Alex worked from 1943 to 1989 for Swift Meat Packing in Armourdale doing many jobs. He was a union shop steward while at Swift. Alex was preceded in death by his parents, infant son Carlos, seven brothers and one sister. Alex is survived by two sons, Richard Florez and wife Corrine of Ocean Springs, MS and Carlos Florez of Overland Park, KS; one daughter, Lisa Wheat-Carr and husband Mike Carr of Olathe, KS; former wife, Frances Florez of Olathe, KS; two brothers, Alfonzo Flores, Dallas, TX and Leo Flores, Overland Park, KS; two sisters, Lola Gutierrez and Rita Rojas, both of Kansas City, MO; three granddaughters, Jennifer Marie Florez, Alicia McEachron and Nikki Wheat and one great granddaughter, Sophia Florez.
