Alice Lorene Hurst

On July 11, 1945, Lorene was united in marriage to Harold L. (Bud) Hurst, Sr. in New Bern, NC. She was a member of the Grace Point Baptist Church, Kansas City, MO. She was a former employee of the Marine Corps Finance Center in the Civilian Personnel Office.

She and her son Darrel R. Hurst were taken from us on September 2, 2014. She was preceded in death by her parents. Her loving husband passed in May 2009. Lorene is survived by her son Harold L. Hurst, Jr. (Ardith), and her daughter-in-law Kathy Hurst all of Leawood, KS; brother, Cecil A. Shannon (Marlene) of Overland Park, KS; sister, Emma Jean Newland of Lees Summit, MO; grandsons Harold Lee Hurst, III (Christine), and Scott Ray Hurst (Cathi); and granddaughters Ardith Elaina Hurst (Craig Morrison), and Stacey Louise Hurst Morgan (Jacob) and their children Ryan, and Natalie.

She is held in dearest memory by many other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday, September 7, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Rd. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, September 8 at the funeral home, followed by burial in Mt. Moriah Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, we ask memorial contributions be made to the Grace Point Baptist Church, 10415 Chestnut Dr., Kansas City, MO 64127 and/or National Center for Victims of Crime, 2000 M Street NW, Suite 480, Washington, DC 20036.
