

Alice Louise Mason-Burdick, 76, of Kansas City, Missouri, died Monday, January 12, 2015 at St. Joseph Medical Center. She was born in Buffalo County, Nebraska and moved to Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of five. Alice attended the Nebraska School for the Blind in Nebraska City, graduating in 1958. She lived in Kansas City for the past 41 years. She was a vending facility manager for Business Opportunities for Missouri Blind. Alice was a member of the Holmeswood Baptist Church and involved in the Anchor’s Senior Group there. She was a member of the Christian Fellowship for the Blind and greatly enjoyed their annual national conferences which she helped plan, as a board member.
Alice was an amazing woman whose determination and faith allowed her to raise four boys, mostly on her own, through multiple trials including a divorce and deaths of two husbands and a teenage son. Alice survived being hit by a car while walking across the street in 1983. This accident occurred just prior to the death of her husband Gary Mason. Through great adversity, the challenges of being blind, and tragedies, Alice continued to walk the road of a determined Mother and Christian.
Alice is survived by her husband Harold Burdick; sons and daughters-in-law Micheal and Sonia Clark of Peculiar, Missouri, Matthew and Marla Mason of Williamsburg, Missouri and Shane Mason of Kansas City, Missouri; stepdaughter Lynne Caltrider and husband Roger of Casey, Iowa; brothers Norman Dority of Lincoln, Nebraska and Stanley Dority and wife Mary of Lincoln, Nebraska; sister Barbara Fonner and husband Jim of Colorado Springs, Colorado; sister-in-law LuAnn Blankenship and husband Jerry of Pleasant Hope, Missouri; eleven grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents Wilma (Shormann) and Wayne Dority; husbands Edward Negley and Gary Mason; son Leroy Lynn Clark; and brothers Roland and Marvin Dority.
Visitation will be held from 12:00-1:00 p.m. followed by funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 15, at Holmeswood Baptist Church, 9700 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri. Burial in Forest Hill Cemetery.
